Skid Hits 15 with 109-102 Loss to the Pistons

The Celtics played hard but were just no match for the Pistons. They were down by 16 at the half and fell behind by as many as 22 in the 3rd quarter but fought back and cut the lead to only 7 by the end of the game. Doc let out some of his frustration and drew a technical foul in the 4th quarter as he protested a foul called on Al. No one player stood out tonight but several had solid games.

Rondo once again started at point guard and finished with 8 points, 11 assists, 2 rebounds and 1 steal. West started at the 2 and finished with 10 points 1 rebound and 2 assists. He still seems as though he isn’t 100%. Telfair played 23 minutes as the back up PG and scored 13 points to go with 7 assists and 1 steal. Both did a good job of finding the open man. It is a nice thing to have your PG’s leading the team in assists.

Scal started at the 4 and scored 9 points and dished out 3 assists but only pulled down 1 rebound. I just feel you need to get more post play and more rebounds from your starting PF. I would rather see Powe get a chance to show what he could do. Or even go back to Perk and Al starting. I just don’t think Scal rebounds well enough to be the starting PF. Al scored 10 points and pulled down 9 rebounds with 2 blocks. He was hampered much of the game by foul trouble and so I believe he played somewhat tentatively so as not to pick up the 6th foul. Perk played 10 minutes and scored 8 points with 3 rebounds and 3 blocks.

Green came in and hit some big shots in the 4th quarter run scoring 12 points with 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. Gomes was once again solid with 19 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists. Wally played 22 minutes and shot 2-3, scoring 10 points with 2 rebounds and 1 assist.

Powe got in for the final minute and as always did something good in his limited time drawing a charge on a Piston drive. Ray also got in for the final minute and hit a 3 pointer and pulled down a rebound. Kandi was a DNP coaches decision. Once again, they played hard and made a run at the end but the Pistons were just too much for them. The Pistons out rebounded us 34 - 26 and just out played us all the way around. I really feel bad for these guys. They play hard but just can’t get any breaks. I hope they get a win soon as they desperately need one. The above picture of Al says it all.
