Will Kobe, or anyone, ever score 100 in a game?

It's pretty safe to admit that at least for now, Kobe is the one legitimate threat to Chamberlain's record. But, will he ever get 100 in one game, or will anyone for that matter?

I agree, if anyone can it is Kobe. But I'm not sure Kobe will top his 81. He definitely still has the ability, he dropped 30 in a quarter like it was nothing. But with all the heat the Raptors received from everyone for not "knocking him on his butt" (--Charles Barkley), I think if he got around 80 again, teams start flagrant fouling him. Then assuming the game is out of reach, Phil would probably sit him instead of allowing him to risk getting hurt.

Wade will probably do it in a game on 100 free throws. :freak2:

But Wade will only do it after crashing to the floor with a "horrible" injury and then coming back a few minutes later to save the day.

Even if the feat was accomplished it would feel kinda...I don't know...false. . .Wilt did it without a 3 pt line(not that he could have hit 3s). . .Chances are if anyone ever hits 100 again they are using that arc aha. The stilt had to put in 50 some buckets(maybe more counting free throws). I think teams are too balanced now to haveone guy that dominant. Even Kobe is changing his game up this season to balance the squad's performance out. . .Wilt was like one of the few huge dids back then(I think) which gave him an advantage too. I just don't see it ever happening. Basketball wasn't played the same way it is today either, defense is much better. . .I got mad respect for what Chamberlain did but. . .It's untouchable for more reasons than one.

NOT A CHANCE!!! Sorry, Kobe is good, but he has no hope of breaking 100. THe other team would break his ankles first.

Yea I caught that game after the C's and Kobe was great. I still don't think he'll score 100 though.

Followed that one with 50 and then 65. Not a bad three game streak.

Its amazing the level of basketball Kobe plays at. It used to seem like such a big deal when someone would drop 40 or 50, but now Kobe is just making it look easy. I haven't heard any talk of Kobe winning the MVP this year, but there obviously needs to be some discussion of him winning the award. My pick would for MVP would be Steve Nash just because of the Pts & Assts averages every night, but Kobe needs to be #2 on that list and not Dirk. Dirk's great, but he plays on a much better team, Kobe's is putting up these monster numbers without much of a supporting cast.

I wouldn't vote for Kobe.
Letting you team lose 7 in a row is not MVP play IMO.
how much your team wins is not the only factor, but winning or stopping your team from a large losing streak like that should factor in the equation.

Nash & Dirk are 1 and 1a IMO

My MVP Voting Would Be...

#1 Steve Nash
#2 Kobe Bryant
3. Dirk Nowitzki

So they Lakers lost 7 in a row because Kobe let them? How bout the fact that Phil has asked Kobe to involve the rest of the team, spread the ball around etc...and that failed recently with all the Laker injuries.

Then Phil gave him the green light 3 games ago (as he reported in the press) and Kobe went off and the team has won 3 in a row.

He did exactly what his coach asked of him, he didn't let his team lose. You don't know Kobe if you think he'd LET his team lose. There is no fiercer competitor in the entire league, not even close.

I agree. No one wants it like Kobe. Maybe Shaq although he doesn't show it as obviously, he was VERY motivated to win a championship before Kobe after the split.

But being 4 games over .500 and going on a losing streak like that.. well I believe there are players who do more and mean more to their team.

Look at Lebron (27.6 ppg, 6.9 rpg, 5.9 apg 48% FG 69% FT <-- yikes really?!?!)
Kobe (30.5 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 5.5 apg 46.5% FG 87% FT)

they're even in steals, blocks and TO's
what's the difference??
their record. Cavs are the second best team in the East and have 6 more wins.
So, Kobe goes banana's for 3 games and all of the sudden he's to be considered for MVP?
I just don't get it.
Lebron has pretty much the same numbers but doesn't explode for big number nights like Kobe but gets dogged for looking lethargic and uninterested for the first half of the year.
depending on one's criteria for an MVP, Kobe may have it for intangibles over Lebron but both have had basically the same year stats wise.

I still believe Dirk and Nash have been the better players throughout the year and have done the little extra things to make their teams a success.

well you quoted my reasoning why Kobe shouldn't be MVP. I assumed that was your point.

fine, Kobe is by far the best player on the Lakers and like a Qb or Pitcher he has to shoulder some (or a lot) of the blame when the team is losing.
Blame for every loss?
No, that's not accurate either.
Blame for a long losing streak of 7 games.
absolutely.
It's up to him to execute on the court and make the team better.
Usually he does and in the last 3 games he has.
If he's gonna get credit for winning the last 3 games, he's gotta take blame for the previous 7.
fighting for a good playoff spot and not stopping a slide like that is just bad IMO.
