Leather Ball to Return on Jan. 1

NBA commissioner David Stern, in a stunning reversal, has decided to shelve the new microfiber composite basketball after just a few months of use and switch back to the old leather model for all games starting Jan. 1, according to sources close to the situation.

The decision will be formally announced by the league Tuesday, sources told ESPN.com.

Despite an avalanche of player complaints about the new synthetic model from the first day of training camp in October, skepticism was high among players that Stern would consent to a change during the season. But with a number of prominent players complaining of cuts on their hands caused by the new ball’s high-friction cover — Phoenix’s Steve Nash and New Jersey’s Jason Kidd among them — Stern was forced to concede that an in-season swap was unavoidable with the new ball inflicting injuries.

Not sure how I feel about this...

With one exception (Paul Pierce) I havent heard any players say anything positive about the new ball, and if its inflicting injuries and affecting a players shot then change it back

That whole "inflicting injuries" part seems like a stretch to me....but hey, these guys handle the ball a lot, who knows.

It was only a matter of time. Mr. Stern, you were fixing something that wasn't broken, and atleast you can admit the fact you made a mistake.

Yeah, you have to admit no one thought he would actually admit it was a mistake.

Shooting %'s, Free Throw %'s, are all up this year, and Ball Related Turnovers are down, I think they at least shoulda waited until the end of the year to change the ball back

As well as for, when basketball was formulated, the baskets catered of pear baskets. However these baskets apprehended their booty short bottoms. Chicago Bulls jerseysSo considering that the ball happened to run into than a basket, it took a point of attempt to remove the state run ball relating to the basket in an attempt to play it all further.
