Childress Signs in Greece

Childress Signs in Greece

Postby goldnblue83 on Wed Jul 23, 2008 10:12 pm

Josh Childress signed with a Greek team, 3 years $20 mil. Delfino signed in Russia a week or two ago. I think its a little early for concern, but good role players looking for more than the MLE are going to start going to Europe more and more often with everyone being over the cap just about.

I think he can get that kind of money in the NBA..hes young and very athletic, also very long structure. He plays defense and can also score..and he can handle the ball and isnt turnover prone. Hes kinda a clone of Josh Smith with better handling but less leap and defense.

No, its $20 million

Its not that he isn't worth that much, I would pay him $7 mil. a year to be a great 6th man, its just he wanted more than the MLE and very few teams can offer him that.

He gets to live in a beautiful country, earn tax free money while his bills are payed for him, and housing and a car is provided, all while potentially raising his stock even more if he goes in and dominates.

Childress IMO is worth every penny he's being paid, problem is there aren't many teams right now in the NBA that could have offered him that, and the Hawks sure as hell weren't going to pony up that amount of cash.

Yup exactly what i was saying. Hes not that bad of a player actually but its just because the Hawks have alot of athletic swingmen.

His length and athleticism gave the Celtic's fits in the playoffs. I was really shocked at first to see that he couldn't get this kind of money in the NBA, I think he's a solid player, and he's still young at that and could even further develop his game. I always liked him as a player, and if he goes over to the Euroleague and dominates, it's only going to raise his stock for any NBA team that is interested.

There aren't enough teams that can dish out that kind of money right now, even if he is worth it.

Who could have realistically dished out that type of money other then Atlanta? The Sixers and T-Pups?

Yeah, 76ers have enough swingman in Iggy/T-Young and Minny isn't competing so they couldn't use him to his potential.
