They gave up Donte Greene who could be a beast.
Artest is expiring after this season and would have walked away anyways.

Who else would have offered more for a nut job that could mess up a team? Sacramento is completely rebuilding and 3 years down the line Donte Greene will be lighting up Artest.

Except for a few shit teams, there are like over 20 really good teams in the league now. So many teams are just completely stacked.

Right now the only teams that can not compete right now IMO are:
Memphis
OKC
Minny
Milwaukee
NY
NJ
Sacramento
maybe Chicago

Everyone else has enough talent to at least contend for the playoffs.

Memphis, Minny, Milwaukee, and Chicago could all make the playoffs.

If Memphis had a decent froncourt player they could win 30 games, but they don't so they can't. Plus they're in the West.

Minny's lineup of Foye, McCants, Miller, Love, Al Jef = NO D

Same goes for Milwaukee but even more so. Mo, Redd, and CV are all defensive liabilities.

Noah and Ty aren't good enough to be starters yet and there isn't really any frontcourt depth besides Gooden.

I'm going to have disagree on the possibilities of everything ... except Tyrus Thomas. Thomas has no chance of becoming anything good.

Please explain how you think Memphis could ever make the playoffs.

Mike Conley, OJ Mayo, Rudy Gay ...

Then if Gasol, Darko, Warrick, Darrell Arthur, and Antoine Walker can hold their own, they could certainly make the playoffs.

It certainly seems like a good team but, they are not close to being one of the 8 best in the West. For a few more years they are far behind LA, Pheonix, Dallas, San Antonio, NO, Utah, Portland, and Houston. Right now I'd take Golden State, Denver, and the Clipps over them too.

Gay is an emerging superstar and one of my favorite players but the rest of the lineup just isn't ready to be competitive. To be effective Conley needs a decent bigman to work around, and no one in the Memphis frontcourt even comes close to being a solid starting player with the exception of Arthur in a few years. Mayo will also do well but there is no way in hell the Grizzlies win more than 35 games this season.

Kyle did you forget that Gasol is now in Los Angeles? Or did you mean his brother?

Wow, Rockets finally make a deal to get another player to help out Tmac..I think Artest plays to his abilities to a point. He could average all star numbers on a great team but on a team like the Kings he feels that they are going to lose anyway so why play to your highest potential, thats the way i see it but it could be different. Artest will bring the defensive tenacity the Rockets need to be a top tier team in the West.
