Pierce is our starting small forward. But he is a bit older, and Gerald Green is playing lights out right now, just one fire. Eventually Pierce is gonna get another injury and another injury, as he gets older, Green is ready to contribute right now and will only get better just like Big Al, I think it's something to seriously consider.

Theres a possibility that Pierce gets moved to Golden State when he comes back from injury. Personally Id do it in a heartbeat now, it would make us terrible for the rest of the year, but it would give the young kids some legit time to develop and grow, and it would give us a high lottery pick and give us a strong chance at Oden.

Even if not Oden, you might have a chance at Durant or Noah. What young talent would you want from GSW? My favorite is Pietrus. Perhaps a Pietrus/Beidrins/Dunleavy deal could be swung. Dunleavy would have to be included for salary matching I would presume. But a future lineup of West/Pietrus/Green/Jefferson/Beidrins could be pretty intimidating. Heck even Ike Diogu would be good from GS. I just remembered him, what happened to him I haven't seen him all year.

Monta Ellis from Golden State would be all the young talent I would want in that deal. Since the rumors started making the rounds I started to really watch him closely and I think it 2-3 years he'll be an all-star.

If I am trading Paul at this point I am looking for a rising star in return. A solid contributor between 4 and 6 season into their career. A new team captain more or less.

I agree with the ideas of this though. I love pierce but we have to make some moves somewhere I feel we're too lopsided. We're very strong at the 2 and 3. We;re ok at the 1 and 4 and just weak at the 5. We need to balance our roster out some. Whether it means trading Paul, Wally, Gomes, a pick, Al, or whatever. Something needs to be done.

Guys I'd look to get in a pierce trade would be Zack Randolph. Chris Paul. Tony Paker. Kirk Hinrich & Ben Gordon. Baron Davis. Michael Redd. Rip Hamilton. Mehmet Okur. Chris Kaman. Eddy Curry.

Not all of these guys would match Pierce in contracts or talent or leadership. Some do...as for the others they could be the main piece in a package we could get for Pierce. know what I mean? aha.

You make a good point that I hadn't really thought about...if we deal Pierce then we've just lost our team leader and our roster doesn't exactly have a #2 guy ready to step into that role. If we end up dealing Pierce (which I don't think we will) we'd definitely need another leader coming in to lead this young group we have.

Dealing Pierce just doesn't make sense. Trading Pierce is a backward or treading water move. I wasn't a fan of his contract extension, but trading him would kill this team. The chemistry that's developed between Pierce and Green is the most vital part of the team's near future (the draft pick is really just very delicious gravy).

Way I see it. . .

Keep Pierce--> Make some moves to bring in another bonified all-star to team up with him. Whether this means trading some youth alongside Ratliff's contract or moving the pick that's the way to go.

Move Pierce-->MEANS GO YOUNG-->Means we move Pierce for a guy like I mentioned in my earlier post and try to get a proven role player or two to fill some gaps.

Pierce realistically has like...5 years of all-star level game play. And that's like max. He had his injury this season and he's getting older. . . I know he still kills now but look at how young the rest of the team is. We need a younger franchise player with some solid talented role players around him(Like D wade and the Heat kinda. Except without a lazy hibernating center).

If the Celtics did that, they'd be crappy for another 8 years. They have the chance to have emerging young franchise players to go along with Pierce. They've got a lot of chemistry going on this team, and can win a lot of games next year... Trading Pierce does nothing but negatives for the team.

It's obvious how much better they are with Pierce, I think Paul has emerged as a true star the last 2-3 years. Just get a coach in there who has some kind of system he can fit to the players on this team and they win the Atlantic and have a chance to go far in the playoffs.

Yeah. I was just saying like if I HAD to take that route. . .I think Keeping him, getting another star next to him, seeing where we go in the draft and such is the way to go.
