Extensions
For teams that are under the league's salary cap, and have money to spend, they have the ability to offer their players contract extensions, by posting a new topic within the Sign/Cut/Positon Changes section. Just post a new topic with your team's name followed by extends (example: Celtics Extend), and post the terms of the player(s) extension. A team cannot extend a player for longer then five seasons, and can only use this method to extend a player once during that players career. Teams who use this method to extend a player are still allowed to use GM cash ($3000) to extend the same player for an extra year. The format for extensions are the same as the format for free agency bids, and the same rules apply as well. An extension cannot have a player making less money then his contract contract, and a player cannot be offered an extension that decreases in salary throughout years.

Lowball Rule
Extensions are approved the same way that trades are. If a member of the comittee feels that a player is being lowballed then they have the ability to say unfair. Two unfairs and the extension is dead and the team cannot offer that player another extension until next season. Two fair's and the extension will be put through.

I think the only way it would work is if the comittee members who judge the extension dont give the team a ballpark # and just say fair or unfair, and if its unfair then the team would have 1 more chance to make an offer. Otherwise the team could just change their offer to whatever a certain comittee member says they think would work.

Teams are now allowed to attempt to sign a player to an extension once more if the initial extension is deemed unfair. However if both attempts at an extension are deemed unfair, then the player may not be allowed an extension until his contract year (His last year under contract).

Also if you are a member of the comittee, don't post what you think should be the players salary, just say simply fair or unfair.

So am I not allowed to offer an old player an extension for less than his current salary? That's kind of unrealistic.

Do the loyalty, greed, and play for winner ratings come into play for the extensions? I have heard that they don't and I think that's sort of ridiculous. Why should it matter whether a player is being extended or signed as a free agent, their loyalty, greed and play for winner should all come into play either way.
