Yea really at this point if Garnett can't be brought in then we need to trade Pierce now while he still holds some value. The Lakers seem to be the frontrunners in the Garnett rumors but hopefully Boston can make some type of move to get him. If not...then we trade Pierce and fully commit to the youth movement. We resign Jefferson long term and he becomes the new face of the franchise. Hopefully Green & Rondo can live up to their potential & we deal with a few more years of lottery talks...and hell who knows, maybe next year's draft lottery will be good to us and we'll land OJ Mayo (Wow..I can't believe Im talking about next years lottery). But Danny's "5 year plan" to build a winning team is quickly becoming a disaster and starting to look more like a ten year plan at best. Pierce is only getting older and if management is not going to completely commit to competing now by making big trades and parting with our young talent then we need to cut our losse and say bye to Paul Pierce while he still holds some type of value on the trade market because right now he's an injury prone superstar on the decline of his career & is quickly loosing value on the trade market. So IMO if worse comes to worse and Danny decides to sit on his ass all offseason like usual, then we trade Pierce in hopes of gaining at least 1 young player with upside. The Pierce rumors last season had Golden State & Chicago as the most likely destinations for Pierce...so maybe take on some of the contracts from Chicago and hope to get a Ben Gordon...or take on J-Rich and get Monte Ellis from Golden State. But I Don't wanna see Pierce traded away for some aging veterans who are no longer in the primes of they're careers. Maybe a deal to Minny to get KG & Foye..hell Id throw in Pierce, Gerald, Delonte & Gomes if Minny would go with that...when it comes to trading Pierce there is just so many options, but the sooner the Celtics do it, the more they'll recieve back. Its definitley time for Danny to make a major decision, do we commit to winning now, or do we commit to the rebuilding process & continue on with the youth movement. Because with the #5 pick at best you'll get a Corey Brewer or maybe a Jeff Green and they're not going to save this franchise. _________________

why trade pierce for ben gordon (gunner who does little else) or Richardson & Ellis who have become accustomed to playing without discipline.
the team needs size to help Al down low or an upgrade over the current talent.
the youth movement is useless without developing the current talent into tradeable commodities. More youth = less time for each player to get PT and experience.
Paul is a multi-talented player who can do just about everything really well and hits shots in the clutch. Trading him for 40 cents on the dollar would equal spinning the wheels in the mud. It creates a bigger mess and you go nowhere.
Paul is a dedicated Celtic, which is rare to find. Sure he wants to win, he got a taste of it making the conference finals and wants to get back.
unless you can do a big trade, get rid of some other players with Paul and overhaul the team to get 2-3 solid starters in return, it ain't worth it IMO.
and who's out there looking for such an overhaul?
Kings? Clipps? <-- if they were smart or ballys enough, Magic?<-- besides Dwight, who would you actually want from this team? Nets? <-- probably wouldn't send kidd and carter to a conference rival.
no, trading Paul would not be a great idea, unless some team comes out of the blue with an outstanding offer. |

If Danny doesn't bring in a legit player to play besides Paul, then PP is just gonna demand a trade anyways, he did it after Walker was traded, and he's already voiced his opinion on wanting to trade the pick. _________________
