Sources: Celtics To Offer Doc An Extension

Quote:
According to league sources, the Celtics are prepared to offer Doc Rivers a contract extension following this season.

Rivers’ original four-year deal ends after next season, and he has stated he didn’t want to be in a lame duck position, though he did stop short of saying he would leave if the team didn’t extend his contract.

While the salary figures and length of the new contract have yet to be discussed, both sides seem willing and eager to get a deal done.

Neither director of basketball operations Danny Ainge nor Rivers would confirm the news, but both made clear their satisfaction with the way things have gone this season under circumstances that include a far too young roster and a series of key injuries.

I read about this on hoopshype and was less then thrilled, but the young guys seem to really like Doc so clearly they see something that the majority of C's fans don't. Doc's rotations and playcalling usually leaves me baffled and confused, but management loves him, and the players, even Pierce have nothing but good things to say about him. For the most part he hasn't had a good team, and his first year as coach when he did have a good team he took them to the playoffs, so hopefully he can do something with these guys next year because it seems more then likely that he'll get offered a contract extension.
