How can they not be a contender? Any trio of superstars is a contending team. _________________ 2007-2008: 34-48

I think the Celtics have to be considered a contender because now KG has help, everyone saw what happened the last time he has help, minny went to the WCF and almost beat the lakers fab four. But I also think that everyone might be jumping the gun guaranteeing them 60 win season and goin straight to the finals. It will probably take them a couple months to mesh and get used to each other.

Orlando is our biggest problem in the East.
We have yet to face the Suns, Mavs, or Spurs this season; all three teams would be tough. I doubt we could beat the Spurs--not because of one on one matchups, but because they have a great team chemistry and finals experience.
The Lakers will be lucky this year to even make the playoffs. They were outplayed by Utah even with Carlos Boozer and Okur in street clothes. |

I agree with you, I dont think were better then Orlando. Dwight Howard is a beast and Jameer Nelson is better then Rondo. Rashard Lewis and Turkoglu get it done from outside so their gonna be a tough team to beat. As far as the Sun, Mavs, and Spurs go, the 3 teams are better then us even if we beat them during the season. In playoffs, they have experience but not only that, they got better benches and more complete starting lineups. We got 3 all stars and then we got Perkins and Rondo. Posey and House are good off the bench but they cant mess with the players that come off the bench for those 3 west coast teams and even a couple more teams in the east like Detroit and Cleveland might be tough to. |

I'd have to say yes. We got a 3-man power play that, with a little refinement, should be unstoppable.
Jeez, even the team themselves are confident, considering I just read a thing in the Globe about them signing up to sell pre-reserves for playoff tickets:
http://www.boston.com/sports/basketball/celtics/articles/2008/01/25/celtics_sell_rights_to_buy_tickets_to_playoffs/
Apparently you buy these fan forwards that are just like a preorder that only works if your team makes it to the event (in this case the playoffs). So the C's are so confident they'll make it that they made a big announcement about it? That's good enough for me.
Combined with KG and Krew, I'm snagging my tickets now. |

Indeed. I was wrong about both teams. Of course, without the Gasol trade I might have been right. |
