What are your thoughts everyone?

The Celtics are propelling toward the top of the lottery, but Paul Pierce thinks that they should deal the pick.
“I know how people are thinking with us maybe getting a high pick and all that, but I really don’t look at it like that,” said Pierce. “I don’t put my faith in the draft. I don’t count on landing the No. 1 or No. 2 pick, which everybody is hoping for. It’s hit or miss either way, whether you make trades or whether you draft. Everything is a gamble.
“My thing is to go out there and play every night and for guys to develop and get better. I want the guys we already have to get better. Everything else is a gamble, and if you really want to get better, I think you have to do that through trades and through veterans.
“I’ve never seen a team grow just from draft picks. If you look at all the guys we have, they’re all first, second, third and fourth-year guys. You’re not going to be able to financially keep everybody.” |

Well...
Where not going to be able to keep everyone financially unless Wyc decides that he wants to pay a huge luxury tax to keep these guys. And I agree that the way to get better is to trade for established veterans and give your team a fair balance of youth and experience. But Danny Ainge would have to be insane to trade the Celtics lottery pick. The opportunity to draft Durant, Oden, Noah or Hawes seems like it has more upside then trading the pick along with some of the youth we already have to recieve a veteran. I think the C's are in a position to keep the pick and still move some guys to get a veteran. They're filled with youth who all seem to have upside (well..except Perk), and Im sure there's no shortage of teams who would like to get a D-West, Ryan Gomes, Al Jefferson, Bassy.
Reading this makes me think that Pierce is desperate to play with another veteran all-star, and I guess given the situation he should be. But at this point in the season with so many losses and no chance in hell of making the playoffs I say stay the course, don't make any trades at all, give all the kids as much playing time as you possibly can to help they're development, and then maybe make a move in the offseason. But this draft looks way to deep and way too talented to trade a potential top 3 pick. _________________

| Wait until the season is over. Keep the pick if it is top 2. Trade it otherwise for KG or ONeal. |
