LAS VEGAS -- The reigning NBA champions are about to lose their glue guy.

NBA front-office sources told ESPN.com on Wednesday that James Posey has agreed to a four-year deal with the New Orleans Hornets worth an estimated $25 million.

Because of luxury-tax concerns, Boston was reluctant to offer Posey, 31, more than a two-year deal in spite of his considerable contributions to the Celtics' first championship since 1986.

Marc Stein covers the NBA for ESPN.com.

Hornets needed a SG pretty badly, now they have a good one to pair with CP3.

I don't really see Posey playing too much SG. He could definitely beat out Wright and Peja at SF though.

IDK, SG seems to be where their hole is...unless Pargo goes there or something.

I doubt they will bench Peja..i dont see that happening. Posey can play both the 2 and the 3, i mean either way hes going to stick the best perimeter scorer weather it be a SG or SF and we all know he can hit the open shots so he doesnt need to be a scoring SG since they got West, Paul, and Chandler so i think they will plug him in at SG.

Hell, Posey can defend some of the smaller 4's as well. Great pick up for NO.
