Marc Stein reports:
P.S.: "As for Pau's future, Boston is the team I'm hearing strongest besides Chicago, whose interest in Gasol and long list of assets are well-chronicled. The Celts, though, also have a longstanding interest in the Spaniard and can package an inexpensive young player or two with future first-round picks in an offer that would also feature ailing center Theo Ratliff, whose contract expires next season while insurance pays most of this season's tab.
The issue for the Celts is whether to pursue Gasol between now and the Feb. 22 trading deadline or focus on their Paul Pierce-less plummet into Greg Oden-Kevin Durant lottery territory." |
I'd like to know who they'd have to package in this deal, but I say go for it. Gasol is a force to be reckoned with and a proven player. We're not guaranteed to land Oden or Durant anyway once Pierce comes back. _________________

| Thats interesting. Knowing that the Grizz want young talent/draft picks, it would probably include a package of Gerald Green/pick/Ratliff (to match salaries). |

Everything Ive read said the deal revolves around Al Jefferson. So maybe Jefferson/Ratliff/West and some future picks for Gasol. I love Jefferson but Id still do this deal in the offseason. If it has to be done at the deadline then Id have to pass on it. We have a lottery pick this year and I wouldn't want to screw that up. _________________

| You might do the deal, but I'm pretty positive Boston wouldn't. They are completely sold on AlJeff being a star. He has also really impressed this year, and think he will have a great impact on the Celts for years to come. |

Yea it really all depends on what the C's want. If they're eager to compete now then I think they'd make the trade, but if they're serious about holding out for the future then they should just stay put. _________________
