Having Pierce and Wally out for extended time can only be good for the development of the young guy.. Allan Ray who was playing virtually no minutes when Pierce was healthy is now playing, and playing well. He's shown he can score in the NBA and he's solid on defense. He's got a nice shooting touch and could become a very dangerous shooter.

Gerald has been kinda dissapointing so far. It seems he's settled for being strictly a 3 point shooter and a leaper. He fights for rebounds but usually comes up short and it seems like we all had him over-rated as a shooter. Still he's improved his defense and you can see flashes of what he could become.

Rajon Rondo is another one of these guys who show flashes of what he can be. His defense is great and no doubt he can get past anyone in the leauge with his speed. But at times his passing gets him in trouble, and his offensive game has been reduced to driving to the basket.

Same with Sebastian Telfair. Scouts love him and I think he could pan out to be very good, but he needs to find his shot. At least while he was with Portland he was shooting the ball. He's been reduced to driving to the basket and only when he has to. His passing and speed are great, he's a decent defender and once he finds a shot that he can rely on he'll be moving up the depth chart.

Leon Powe is my favorite rookie this year. He rebounds, blocks shots, hustles down the court every play, and he's an offensive presence in the paint. He doesn't get much playing time but when he does he's pretty impressive. He could be arguably our best shot blocker and he brings alot more offense to the game then Kendrick Perkins, too bad he's not a few inches taller.

Al Jefferson has become an automatic double-double. He's finally developed a consistent offensive game, and his rebounding and shot blocking has improved a ton from last year. He's still very young and is only going to get better.

Yeah we're definitely seeing a lot of development out of these guys in the absence of Pierce.

Green was the one we all had the highest hopes for, but as you said he hasn't quite been living up to the hopes we have had for him. He's still super young though...he's got time.
