Sources have confirmed that Gerald Green has recieved an invitation to participate in the NBA All-Star Dunk Contest. The offical announcement will not be made until Moday and Gerald has refused to comment until then. Im not sure but I think Gerald is playing in the rookie-sophmore game as well. Gerald will be the only player representing the C's in the All-Star festivities, and I think he has a great chance of winning the Dunk Contest.
Thanks to leauge pass Ive gotten a chance to watch tons of basketball this year and I havent seen anyone in the leauge who can leap like Gerald. I don't know how creative he is with his dunks, but if he can do anything like he did in the McDonalds High-School Dunk Contest then he can give any dunker a run for thier money.
Also, many of you might not know of him but James White whose currently playing in the NBDL could out-dunk any NBA player right now, so keep an eye out for him next year. I'll try and find a youtube link with some of his crazy dunks. _________________

^^Theres a link to some James White highlights...pretty crazy stuff. He was with the Pacers but they released him and the Spurs signed him pretty quickly after his release. He doesn't have much of a shooting game, but this kid is a ridiculous dunker. _________________

YES! Green alone makes the dunk contest worth watching. As long as Nate Robinson doesn't try the same dunk 30 times again this year. _________________

Nate Robinson made the dunk contest last year a complete joke. He really only won it cause everyone else sucked and he's so short. _________________

Iggy deserved the win, he had some sick dunks that didn't take him a billion tries to do. Nate only won cuz he pulled Spud into it. _________________

Iggy is still eligible for the dunk contest right?
Gerald Green will make a great addition to it this year, the dude can soar. |

Yea, I have to admit though Im still a little bummed that James White probably wont be in the contest this year. His rookie season he announced publicly that he wants in the contest, and I guess he's with the Spurs right now so technically he could be in, but he hasnt played much at all so I doubt he gets the invite. _________________

You'd think the league would get word of his leaping abilities and put him in even though he isn't a household name. It only takes 1 dunk for all of america to love him. It's one thing to put in a big name or two, but in this contest people fall in love with anyone who can jump. _________________

It's official - they just announced the participants.
Green will dunk against Nate Robinson, Tyrus Thomas and Dwight Howard.
Howard should be his biggest competition. They are changing the rules so they have to complete the dunk within 2 minutes and have 3 chances to complete a dunk. That way we don't have to watch Robinson try a gazillion times to complete a dunk this year.
Here is the official NBA.com announcement.

Thats good they changed the rules, the line-up is pretty weak though. Gerald and Howard are the only real draws here. _________________

Dwight Howard....big doubter here...gonna take a lot from him to make me think a power forward should be in the dunk contest. _________________

Yea Howard is more of a power dunker, I never thought of him as a leaper, Nate Robinson is only in the contest to defend his title and with the new rules theres a good chance that he doesnt make it out of the first round. Thomas can dunk but isn't close to being on the level of Green.
Looks like Green has the best chance to win, he's easily the best leaper in the contest, but I think the NBA really blew it this year with the line-up. _________________

Yea and thanks to the new rules he won't be able to take forever this year. BETUS has Green as the overall favorite to win it. _________________
