Fiddlin’ and Diddlin’ on Wednesday

For those who don’t recognize the phrase in the title, you need to get a CD or DVD of Johnny Most. His calls were legendary and when a player would dribble too much he would rail at them for fiddln’ and diddlin’. He would have a fit watching the Celtics today because they do way too much fiddlin’ and diddlin’. We need a return of the passing fast breaks of Celtics past.

Celtics play the Cavs tonight at home. This could go either way. The Cavs played in San Antonio last night and could be tired. On the other hand, Cavs beat the Spurs with defense and we don’t do very well against teams who play tough D. Also James had a subpar game and may look to bust out tonight against a team not exactly known for their defense. You can find previews of the game here, here, and here.

Steve Bulpett highlights some of the growing pains the Celtics have been experiencing since losing Paul Pierce.

Shira Springer points out that in spite of some positives, the road trip was far from a success. The key will be to build on those positives and keep going.

Hoopsworld has a good piece on Al Jefferson and the jump he has made this season. A combination of finally being healthy and getting extra playing time have shown us the Al Jefferson that we all have been waiting for since Danny took him 15th in the draft.

Celtics Pride 24/7 has a piece that looks at the players rumored to be available this season and some trade scenarios that could work for the Celtics. I personally don’t want to give up on many of our young players yet. Chauncey Billups for Kenny Anderson still stings a bit.

Full Court Press lists the surprises and disappointments from the season so far. I have to agree with all of them. Green, Tony, Al and Powe have all been pleasant surprises this season. I am glad I am not the only one wondering why Powe isn’t getting more playing time since he brings everything this team needs when he plays. I came into the season waiting to give Doc a chance but he has proved to me that this team won’t go any further until we have a different coach. Delonte and Wally have disappointed due to a series of injuries. It remains to be seen whether either can stay healthy consistently. Telfair has disappointed only because Doc isn’t running in spite of promising over and over to do so, and so Telfair is a round peg being forced into a square hole once again.
