He's a free-agent this offseason and the C's will have some money to spend. What do ya guys think?

If he liked Boston he would be a great addition, but the moment he decided he didn't like it there he'd become a cancer like he did in Toronto.

Yea I'm not exactly a big Vince Carter fan but the C's could definitely use another legit veteran option, and even though he's not exactly the greatest team player he is still a pretty dynamic player.

I think the Celtics would be better off throwing that money at Rashard Lewis.

Now there's a guy Id like to see playing for the C's. Boston will have a nice amount of cash to spend this offseason, and even more next offseason so there's no excuse for Danny not to make a push for an impact free-agent.

A: Vince Carter - don't do it! Got to watch him ruin the Raptors when he attitude started to suck. Have watched him play when he feels like it in Jersey.

B: Rashard Lewis would be great to add on, but then where does green get playing time? (although I'm not 100% Green is gonna pan out anyways)

C: What makes y'all believe the C's have money to spend.
They're Salary cap is 62 mill and change this year. Next year it's 62 mill and change. (about 200K less than last year, that's it)

Celts could use his expiring contract (1 yr left) and a young player (delonte West?) to acquire a solid vet.

question is, who should they get?
they don't need a PF, or SF or SG (green, pierce, wally, West, Allen)
They need another year to see if Rondo is the future at PG or not.
Perkins, well some ppl think he's the answer at C, I'm doubtful.

so if luck is with us Oden will be our center if not, then we get Durant and trade away a couple of pieces and get a solid center?

I need to see a FA list.... my brain is mush this morning.

Vince Carter & Rashard Lewis are the two big free agents this year, but there's also been talk that Kevin Garnett might opt out of his contract so it's possible that he'd be available in the offseason because the T-Wolves would more likely trade him then wait for him to opt out and get nothing for him. Jermaine O'neal could possibly be available, he's been pretty vocal that he wants gone from the Pacers. Pau Gasol & Stromille Swift will most likely be on the trading block because Memphis is trying to sell the team and cut as much payroll as possible. Question is, if your gonna try and make a move for one of these guys who do you give up? I would think that a team would want either Jefferson or Green packaged in a deal, and Danny is so high on the young guys Im not so sure he'd be willing to trade 1 of them. Hopefully the ping pong balls fall our way in the lottery this year and we won't be too desperate to make a trade.

Theo isn't going to retire. He's already said that he wants to come back next year with a clean bill of health. If he comes back, I'd rather see the C's keep him than trade him quite honestly - at least until the trade deadline. Only way I'd want him traded is if they don't get Oden or Durant.

KG can't opt out until after next season.

J.O. wants to play for Isiah again.

Theo is another middling talent that the C's are loaded with, so I don't see the need to keep him.

At least the rest of the players are young and may become more than they currently show.
Theo is what he is and would only take time away from Perkins, Jefferson and whatever other young big guy they draft.

Don’t you think the Celtics could use some veterans around to help guide these young players?

absolutely, but Theo really hasn't played for a winner, so I'm not so certain he'd be a good leader on the team.
without a doubt the C's need to be active this summer and get a playoff experienced vet.

I don't expect Theo to be a leader but when healthy he can block shots and rebound, and the most important thing, he can fill up space in the paint without getting bad foul calls.

The most important thing about Theo being healthy is that he can practice and work with the young bigs. He's been very accepting of the teaching role and he's one of the best to teach Jefferson and Perkins and whoever how to play good team defense without fouling.
