Trade Pierce?

Postby QuenteK25 on Thu May 10, 2007 10:27 am

One of the biggest questions for us this off season and I've heard a lot of differing opinions...

- Yes, but only if we CAN get Oden or Durant to build around
- Yes, but only if we CANNOT get Oden or Durant
- No

So where do you stand?

Its a deep draft and the C's are pretty much garaunteed a top 5...well unless the basketball gods really hate us, so I keep Pierce knowing that Jefferson is an elite bigman now, and hope that the year of experience will help Gerald and that he was able to put on some size in the offseason. And another year for Rondo, West & Perk is only gonna be a good thing. A Healthy Wally and the addition of, Oden, Durant, Horford, Wright, etc. will make us a legit threat in our :censored: division.

What do you get for Pierce though? More young players and bad contracts? They never should have extended him.

For Pierce...maybe a Ben Gordon packaged along with alot of bad contracts, or if Charlotte was willing to deal for him then they could cover his contract because of all they're cap space. But they have very little to offer up in terms of what we would need.

I wouldn't trade him but for a handful of players in the league. Players other teams don't want to part with for the most part. (KG being the exception)
Pierce is an experienced all-star who is one of the more clutch players in the league.
we don't need to get younger, we need to get better and more experienced.
the double team and constant attention he demands makes the game easier for everyone else on the team.
trading him would be admitting defeat.
Trade Pierce, you may as well fire doc, fire ainge, sell the team or alienate the fans.
bottom line, trading Paul serves no purpose save to take 2 steps back as a franchise.. and look at our record now.. would you really wanna take any more steps back?
