Marbury in Green????

Marbury in Green????

Postby yougotrondod on Fri Nov 28, 2008 12:09 pm

Hi everyone,

I'm new here and wanted to hear what some celtics fans are thinking about a possible pick up. What are your thoughts on Marbury to the celtics? He could be a much better backup ballhandler than House and could give a potent scoring punch of the bench. If the Knicks somehow got Marbury to agree to a buyout, and the celts picked him up for cheap, would this work? Could he be the extra weapon off the bench that helps us beat the Lakers again?

Ok then...., you don't think Marbury and Garnett haven't talked about it? With Pierce, Garnett, and Allen on the team, and Doc as coach, they could keep Marbury in line and he would get the chance to contribute to a winning team. Nobody would be depending on him, but he could go in and be instant offense. He's also the typical veteran who has never won much, but is nearing the end of his career so I can see him wanting to join a team with a shot at the finals.

If I remember correctly didn't Marbury and Garnett have a pretty ugly departure from Minny? So I don't think that having Garnett here would be anymore incentive for Marbury to sign on.

The ONLY way that this happens is if the Knicks finally agree to buy out Marbury, which is looking more and more unlikely. He's 20M off the books for them, and I'm sure there are some teams that would be willing to toss a little talent the Knicks way in return for that. I just cannot see him coming here, nor would I want him here to be honest.

Well the buyout part would be the hardest issue at the time, but it seems like things are just getting worse in NY. I don't see Marbury and the Knicks doing this the rest of the season...

As far as Marbury vs Garnett, I've read in several articles that say they have put the past behind. See the link below.

Maybe this scenario is a stretch, but I think the Celts need something more off the bench if they are going to beat LA this year. Any other suggestions?[/url]

The only way the Lakers lose is if their are a bunch of injuries in L.A. There is no addition the Celts are gonna make that would make them better than l.a.

I just read that Bynum injured his foot? Minor injury though right? As much as I despise the Laker's, watching that kid develop has been great.

Who knows, but I believe the Knicks and Marbury go to arbitration tomorrow. If he's not bought out by March 1st however, then it would be pointless to bring him into Boston since we would not be allowed to carry him on the playoff roster.

well in hindsight, it wasn't a disaster... it didn't really help all that much either.

better than the crummy signing of mikki freakin' moore though.
