TRADE PIERCE!

TRADE PIERCE!

Postby MikeDead on Tue Dec 26, 2006 9:37 pm

Okay Im not expecting many people to agree with this idea, but I think its time that the Celtics move on from Paul Pierce. I love him as a player and he's been the franchise guy for almost a decade now, but its very clear that we are not going to win with him and that its time to really start rebuilding. Look at Atlanta, they bomb it for a few years, pick up some lottery picks and are now a competitive above average team (too bad they're managmement is a joke). I heard the the GS rumor and that they might be interested in Pierce, so if the Celtics can get Ellis and a 1st round pick..Id take Dunleavy and Richardson and make the deal. Dunleavy is solid, Richardson can score, and Ellis is an amazing young talent who is already proving he can play in the leauge. If the GS trade cant be made then I would resort to dumping pierce off for some expiring contracts and maybe 1 or 2 D-Leauge prospects or young talent, Pray for the #1 pick and give the young guys like Leon Powe & Allen Ray a chance to play some real minutes and adjust to the leauge. Pierce deserves to be put in a position to win..and I dont have much faith in Ainge to put him in that position...

The C's have made alot of mistakes that have set them back in terms of being a competitive team...but I think now is the time for the C's to begin rebuilding

I am all for it as long as the right deal comes along

Package must include

1 lottery pick
cap relief at the end of the season
1 bonafied young all-star

The question is...who else are we willing to move in a deal like this? There is no way we'll get all those things for Pierce alone. We'll have to move a young guy or two as well.

I have a question. Why would a team trade a young all-star + other things, for an old all-star? Look at the past two superstars to be traded

Shaq- No all-star involved there

AI- no all-star there either

At best you'll get someone who has potential to be an all-star.

This sounds like a good idea. Like everyone has said, the chances of Pierce winning a championship in Boston is at rock bottom. If Golden State was willing to trade Ellis, Richardson, Dunleavy, and a first round draft pick for Pierce, we would be in heaven.

Yea I'd love to have Ellis...Richardson might not be as great as Pierce but he can be dynamic at times, and Dunleavy can score...its would definitley help us add some more veteran experience

All I want is a top 1st round pick. Bonafide young all-star? Right one would be nice.

What we really could use is a big man who knows his role.

I would love any deal that could include Deng and the Knicks pick. For example:

Pierce for Deng, P.J Brown, Sefolosha, Knicks pick

Not sure how realistic that is, but i feel that Deng will become an all-star and that pick could also turn into an all-star.

Its a very deep draft this year and at this point Id dump Pierce for expiring contracts, maybe throw Sebastian in the deal and try and pick up a young player with some potential.

We desperatley need to clear cap room. The Celtics have made some horrible decisions when you think that we passed on Chauncey Billups and are still paying Vin Baker

Pierce, KG, JO, and Gasol SHOULD all be on new teams by the trade deadline. Sadly, I'd be surprised if any of those 4 get moved. If anyone gets traded it will be Gasol.

I do think the 6ers trading AI made it ok for other teams in similar situations to follow suit. Winning with those guys clearly hasn't worked out for each team and it's time to focus their full attention on rebuilding.

Yea I agree, if any of those players are traded it will be Gasol. The Grizz wanna sell and are looking to rebuild completely so Id expect to see him somewhere else by the deadline.

I agree, if any of those guys move it will be Gasol, but I think they're all really likely to stay right where they are.

Probably just wishful thinking but I still expect one of those guys to be moved before the break, most likely Gasol, and if not it's sure gonna make for an interesting offseason

JO/SJax to Boston

Im now praying that the Celtics don't get involved in a deal involving Stephen Jackson...I don't even think that JO is a good fit for the C's, out of KG, Gasol and JO, I would think that JO is the least likely to be traded.

I'm a fan of a big frontcourt, and Jefferson/JO would be a big frontcourt!
