Do we really need much else?

Do we really need much else?

Looking at Pierce being back in the lineup, we were on the verge of winning one game, and we came from behind, granted against a pretty bad team, to beat them convincingly.

But looking at what we have, a clearly talented point guard in Rondo, a superstar in Pierce, a post threat in Big Al, a potential superstar in Green, and really solid role players in Gomes and West.

When we get Tony Allen back we will have a guard to anchor the defense and provide energy.

I'm not saying we are on the verge of a championship by any stretch of the imagination, but we definitely have a core of players who really can get us quite a few wins I would think, and with this pick coming up I would say we are in good position for the future.

The importance about tonight was that it was pride, everyone showed up, Green Rondo, West, they knew they had a chance for a win, and we did not disapoint, it was a chance for the team to show it's heart, and we have quite a bit of heart, judging from tonight.

I don't know the answer myself, but do you think we have enough overall to at least be at a consistent level of respectability?

I don't think we need anything this year, but in the offseason Id like to see a veteran PG brought in or maybe a veteran bigman C/PF. Kendrick Perkins clearly isn't working out so after the lottery Id like to see Danny bring in a PG or maybe try to make a move for Gasol. Its pretty clear to me that this is not a championship team as is, and wont be a championship team with a high draft pick next year, we need another veteran to play alongside Pierce and Wally and help take a little pressure off of guys like D-West and Gerald Green.

I agree, we definitely have the pieces for a good team, maybe even a strong team if the young guys develop well, but definitely not a championship caliber team. Still missing some pieces.

A top 2 pick and a guy like Gasol or Bibby would clearly make us the best team in our horrible division.

I would love to see the Celts make a run at Mike Bibby. Only 28yrs old and as everyone knows is very skilled. It shows that when the young guys have vets out there they can be very good on the floor. Gerald Green continues to impress me. For some reason he reminds me of Koby Bryant. I cannot wait to see what dunk he will be doing on Saturday. Anyone know what time it is on? I wouldn't really consider Perk a bust, he just needs to learn a bit more on defense, he lacks a bit in that department. Al is coming into his own. Like Mike said, a top 2 pick and another key vet like Gasol or Bibby would make up the best team in our horrible divison, once you get into the playoffs, anything can happen. Just the fact that getting into the playoffs would boost confidence in the young guys.

I believe the Dunk contest and all the other festivities start at 9pm ET on Saturday. Usually the Dunk contest is closer to the end than the beginning.

^ I believe your right, should start off with some horrible musical performance then Skills Comp, 3Pt Shootout and then Dunk Contest.

Its pretty clear that Danny needs to make some major changes in the offseason, but bringing in anyone now will just ruin our lottery chances.

I just posted an article on the main page stating that I don't think we are far away at all.

I think we need a solid big man. We can get one through the draft, a trade or free agency. It doesn't need to be an all star just a solid center who can give us a double double every night. We also need a little more development from our core of young players. And we need a new coach. These three things could make us contenders as soon as next season.

After watching the 2nd quarter v. Milwaukee, I don't see the C's needing to make too many moves. They just need to build on the chemistry between Rondo-Green-Pierce. Being optimistic, I'll stick Durant in Wally's place (will provide more help inside without taking away any offense), and although I think Perkins should keep his spot, I'll appease the masses with Jefferson.

1. Rondo
2. Green
3. Pierce
4. Durant
5. Jefferson
-end of starters-
6. Wally
7. Perkins
8. Gomes
9. Telfair
-end of standard rotation-
10. Allen - defense (maybe more of a sixth man role if he proves he's healthy)
11. Ray - shooting (emergency point guard)
12. Ratliff - vet big man
-end of dressed roster-
13. Powe

That alone makes the C's the best team in the Titanic. 50 W's is easily within their grasp.

Trade West and Scal to Detroit for Dale Davis and maybe a draft pick (ya, I've loosened my stance on the pick). Keep Theo - that's your veteran big. See how things go, and if he can't get healthy, either move his contract, or let it expire...another veteran option would be Dikembe Mutumbo. I think Ratliff's value as a practice participant to work with Perk and Jeff (Theo knows and is accepting of his role as a teacher) makes him worth the $11.6mil.

The only problem might be the whitey quota. Gotta have 2...can't figure out who the other could be without doing much looking into...maybe bring back Pittsnogle...
