Pierce " I am the best player in the league "

Pierce " I am the best player in the league "

From a Spanish interview with Paul Pierce:

English translation:
Quote:
I don’t think Kobe is the best player. I’m the best player. There’s a line that separates having confidence and being conceited. I don’t cross that line but I have a lot of confidence in myself.

Spanish version:
Quote:

Paul Pierce is a top 20 player, not even at the same level as Kobe.

pierce has emerged as the 2nd best SF in the league, but this is like tony parker saying he's better than lebron james because he won finals MVP and swept the cavs.

Kobe Bryant is overrated. He may be able to put up a ton of points, but there is nothing else to his game.

I don't care. The media hype on Kobe is the 2nd biggest joke in the NBA. The only thing worse is that on Dwayne Wade. At least Melo's hype has finally started to come back to reality.

I am probably the worst Kobe fan on this site..i cant stand this guy, i dont know why but he just makes me mad. But Kyle i have to disagree with you on this one hes a great player, hes one of the few allstars that actually play defense and can drop 50 pts on any given night and i tip my hat off to him on that but he cross the line when he had the balls to say my favorite player(Gilbert Arenas) takes awful shots..which i think he does but still not his place to make that call.

"But him individually, it's funny. He doesn't seem to have much of a conscience. I really don't think he does. Some of the shots he took tonight, you miss those, and they're just terrible shots. Awful. You make them and they're unbelievable shots. I don't get a chance to play him much, so I haven't gotten used to that mentality of just chucking it up there. He made some big ones, but I'll be ready next time."

He made that comment after Gilbert torched him, and i mean :Shaq: like that. Laker fans should know what im talking about..

coming from the guy who think KG is the best player in the league...kobe>arenas, i am not a kobe fan, but it's not even close. kobe is a better teammate, passer, defender, scorer.

Kobe is a lock-down defender, 8 time All-Defensive team is not hype.

He isn't helping them win. He is a defensive liability, he takes ill advised shots, and last year wasn't the first year he was injured. He missed significant time over the last five years. He's played in 302 games in 5 years or roughly 60 games a season. So he's got injury concerns and isn't a player that elevates the guys around him. He can score and he can do what else? Gamble in the passing lanes for easy steals or easy buckets for his opponent. Games played the last five years 55, 80, 80, 74, 13. He had two entirely healthy years then the other three he has missed time including missing the playoffs last season and most of the playoffs this year. I am not a fan of chuckers and Arenas and Melo are two chuckers I wouldn't want on my team. Plus Arenas has a habit of doing things for attention which takes away from the team atmosphere which IMO is essential to be a winning franchise.

who votes on that? the media. Kobe is a media creation and nothing more. he has done nothing that indicates true greatness. scoring 80 against a crummy defense in a meaningless regular season does not constitute greatness. Greatness is having the best games of your career in the most important games. If you want recent examples of greatness, check out the performances of Rajon Rondo, Ray Allen and KG in the final game of the season. Check out the performances of Lebron James and Paul Pierce in their shoot out.

Kobe is a crummy defensive player. his horrid defense handed the Celtics an easy 2-0 lead, and one of the easiest Championships in NBA history. The entire series Jackson tried (and failed) to compensate for Kobe's defense.

Kobe is a terrible teammate and leader, quits on his team, overthinks on his play (trying to do whatever he thinks he wants to even if he can't), soft. he's a very stupid player.

Kobe Bryant is an overrated hack.

uhh no. when phil jackson actually put kobe at sf and did kobe on pierce? pierce couldn't score to save his life. phil jackson didn't want kobe to waste his energy by playing D on pierce and following him all night long.

and he's not soft at all :man10: :man10: :man10:

don't diss Sasha and VladRad. The Lakers should appreciate that those two players actually tried. And failed, but at least unlike the rest of the team they played as well as they ever could. Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, and Lamar Odom just keeled over and let whoever on the Celtics do whatever they wanted and settled for contested jumpers once it was hard to go to the basket. that was a pathetic performance from those Lakers, cruising throughout the finals without any desperation or heart.

KC, I'm sorry but what you're saying is crap. Nothing personely offcourse. But you don't think scoring 81 points is great? A sign of greatness? Outscoring the Mavericks in three quarters by one by himself? And don't come with crappy defense. The shots he took that night... Still, you are right that he tries to force things when they don't go his way. But putting 5 players in front of him? C'mon.
