Gerald Green wins Slam Dunk Contest

Gerald Green wins Slam Dunk Contest

Wow, how awesome was this for the Celts fans, not to mention the team? That kid can fly. The Nate Robinson jump over dunk was the best. We all knew the skills this kid has and the announcers just pretty much agreed with what we all knew.

I know this is only a Slam Dunk contest but this kid has some real skill. With more playing time he really shows that he can score. I hope Ainge doesn't plan on packaging him in a trade. You know just about every Celtic fan watched this and their love for Green probably increased by giving up something to cheer about. Ainge will be more hated then ever if he ever shipped him out.

He made Celts fans proud tonight :jam2:

I thought his first dunk was by far the best. Showed his incredible leaping ability!

Oh and Nate Robinson shouldn't have been in the finals it should have been Howard. That sticker dunk was awesome.

I agree it should have been Howard in the finals with Gerald but I am glad it wasn't because Nate was easier to beat.

I thought the dunk over Nate was the best. It had everything. The pump up shoes, the hide the eyes, the Dee Brown jersey and added creativity of dunking over Nate.

The first dunk and the last dunk were also incredible. I wasn't as impressed with the alley oop over the backboard though.

The Celtics have a bit of Pride back thanks to Gerald!!!

I was impressed by Green's first dunk with Pierce. I believe the perfect score at the end was a make up for this dunk. Because Jordan and Erving I feel screwed him.

I'll give Gerald a solid B grade because the other dunks didn't really wow me. I mean the Dee Brown throw back dunk he looked over his forearm at the end. That lost points for me. I liked the Pierce over the back board lob but Green could've did something rather than catch and flush. The leap over the table into a windmill was already shown in the Reebok clip.

I was hoping Green would do a 720.

Overall, Gerald deserved the championship. Heck, just by showing up he'd won it. Thomas was awful.

By the way, I'm glad Robinson was a good sport about it and stood in for Gerald's dunk. That cardboard cut out of Nate would have been a bad idea since Green's momentum might have knocked it over. You can tell Gerald went out of his way to place an emphasis on being creative or imaginative as possible. But, I'd noticed that the younger judges, Carter and Bryant, were on Green's side. Their two scores tended to be higher.

I missed it cause my wife decided she'd rather go to the bar and get drunk, so needles to say i was way too trashed to even understand what was going on in the dunk contest. But I just watched the replay...AND DAAAAAM G$ has some hops. It should have been Gerald and Howard in the finals but either way G$ woulda won it all.

Too much is being made out of the Howard's sticker dunk. I mean I didn't even notice that until during the replay. Before I knew... I wasn't impressed by his dunk by itself. I just watched the sticker dunk just know and don't think Magic fans have an argument. I feel it's more that they're bothered that Howard wasn't in the finals. The problem with players like Howard is their height comes into play on their dunks. He's 6'11'' and doesn't have to jump as high. Give him credit though. He'd asked to have the rim raised. I agree. His request could've been granted given his taller height.

Yeah, I thought the NBA should have put the other hoop up to 12' that way it wouldn't have been an issue during the contest (other than moving the camera men). Plus, Don't you guys think Green would have dunked on the 12 footer as well? Would have been awesome to see him go at it.

I liked the sticker dunk though. True I didn't notice the sticker until the replay, but that was clever, just the kind of thing the dunk contest is for. Either way, Green was really the only one putting on much of a show out there.

Once I get some spare time I'll put up some Gerald Green pics from the dunk contest to rotate through our player pics in the left hand corner of the page.

Green's first two dunks were SICK, but his 3rd was an embarrassment to the dunk contest! His 4th was decent.
